Before applying to become a police officer, it is important to know what requirements you must meet. Below are the requirements for a National Police Association that you must meet:

Experience

In terms of experience, you must have at least 2 years of life or work experience directly related to a combination of experience and skills, including at least two of the following areas:

  • Confirmed community involvement and experience working with seniors, people with disabilities, youth, or people with alcohol / drug problems.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, public speaking, and interviewing.
  • You must have a stable employment history.
  • In addition to a valid driver’s license, your driving records must be impeccable.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative in problem solving and problem solving.
  • Constructive multicultural work and life experience.

Competencies

You should be able to perform the following tasks in accordance with acceptable standards:

Physical requirements

  • You must be in good physical condition so that you can perform basic physical functions at work.
  • Corrected visual acuity 20/30 in both eyes.
  • There is no pronounced red-green color vision deficit.
  • Darken red objects.
  • Normal depth perception.
  • No major interference with night vision.
  • No serious loss of peripheral vision.

Context information

  • You must show that you are a decent person with common sense as stated in your bio, car accident and criminal record.
  • You must not have had a criminal record in the last five years. This includes illegal possession or use of illegal drugs.
  • You must have had no traffic violations in the last 36 months.
  • There should be no domestic violence violations, restrictions, or convictions on your record that could take away your right to possess a firearm.
  • It is also important that you make sure that all the information you provide on the application is true and verifiable.

Age

You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of applying to become a police officer.

Education

In terms of education, you must have a 2-year associate’s degree. Alternatively, you can have at least 60 credited college credit hours or full-time equivalent active military experience. 2 full years of military experience equals 30 credit hours or 1 year of study / education. All credit hours must be earned from an accredited university or college. Must complete at least a “C” or “Credit” grade.
